Why Matthew loves Juniper House

Juniper House is one of our two care homes in St John’s, Worcester, where residents enjoy a high standard of care in a beautiful, homely environment.
We provide residential care and care for people living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. Our devoted team also provide planned respite care breaks, which are so important for caregivers in the local community who need a carer’s break of their own, with the peace of mind of knowing their loved one is in safe hands.
With an on-site bistro, hairdressing salon, beautifully decorated bedrooms with walk-in wet rooms, glorious gardens and fantastic activities, our care home has it all.
Next door to St John’s Medical Centre, off Bromyard Road, Juniper is part of the Sanctuary Grove scheme, with its on-site bistro restaurant. Our residents enjoy delicious food prepared by the restaurant’s chefs. There are three choices of main course every day, including a vegetarian option. For lighter bites, there are home-made soups and, of course freshly baked cakes and biscuits for afternoon tea.
Our residents can dine in the bistro for a change of scenery or take visiting relatives for a spot of lunch. This scheme also has a beautiful hairdressing salon, where our residents can enjoy appointments with a mobile hairdresser or have their nails done.
Every bedroom has a walk-in wet room shower. Beautifully decorated and furnished, our residents are welcome to bring small pieces of furniture – anything that makes it truly feel like home. We also have adjoining rooms and extra-large bedrooms for couples. Many of the bedrooms face St John’s nature reserve, which has a large pond. Others overlook the magnificent gardens, which are a haven during the warmer weather and are surrounded by wheelchair-accessible pathways, perfect for our residents with greater physical disabilities.
We are the only residential care home in Worcestershire with state-of-the-art bariatric facilities. With two specialist bedrooms, we can promote the well-being of people needing this unique care service. Both rooms have supportive beds and furniture, with special ceiling hoists and walk-in wet room showers.
The garden room is a light and airy space, where our residents can enjoy activities like tai chi and arts and crafts. We have our own dedicated activities coordinator and sometimes our residents love to lead their own sessions, like our book club, which gives them a real sense of purpose. There is also a sewing club and a gardening club during the warmer weather. Reminiscence activities support the wellbeing of our elderly residents living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia, as do our Namaste sessions, designed with the senses in mind.
Our garden room is a sunny spot where our residents love to enjoy activities like musical performances and animal visits, as well as spending time with family and friends.
We also love to take trips outside our care home in Worcester, to places like Webb’s garden centre in Wychbold and the Malvern Theatre.
We don’t just offer residential and dementia care, we are proud to offer respite care breaks, which can be planned respite booked in advance, for example if you are a caregiver looking after an elderly parent or relative at home and need a relief break of your own. Or perhaps you are an older person who lives alone and would like a short stay, or you might need a convalescence break to recuperate. And of course, if you are considering transitioning from home to care and would like a flavour of life at Juniper House, respite is the perfect way to trial the home.
It is usual for residents in care homes to contribute to the cost of their own care. Some people have the resources to pay for their care in full, whilst others make means-tested contributions. Our weekly fees are individual to each of our residents and are subject to a pre-admission assessment, which is required to truly understand the level of care and support needed.
Our 2022 weekly care fees for residential care start from £1,049 but may be in the region of up to £1,400*. This depends on your care needs and the type of bedroom that is right for you, from our standard rooms to our premium bedroom options.
*If you require more specialist care such as 1-2-1 support, your weekly fee could be higher.
