With spectacular views over the Quantock Hills and Durleigh Reservoir, The Rosary is a stunning Jacobean building with period features. It is set in beautiful secure gardens, with wheelchair friendly paths and a heated summer house. The home also has a hairdressing salon, a chef who prepares delicious home-cooked food and wonderful person-centred activities.

What types of nursing and dementia care is provided?

We provide nursing care and end of life palliative care. The team also support people who live with different types of dementia and memory loss, as well as providing short and long term pre-bookable respite breaks. There are also care options for people living with brain injuries and neurodegenerative conditions, such as Multiple Sclerosis and Motor Neurone Disease.

Can you tell me more about the team?

Like a close-knit extended family, the team is made up of highly experienced and long-serving staff. Devoted manager Natali has been here for over 25 years! When you walk through the door there is a warm family feel, which is something the staff are very proud of.

We have state of the art nursing equipment to support health and rehabilitation, including full-body hoists. The team embraces the latest technology to even further enhance our quality of care. There is kradle, Sanctuary Care’s bespoke, award-winning care planning app as well as electronic medication recording.

What is the location like?

The scenery is spectacular – many of the bedrooms and the main lounges have views over the Quantock Hills, an area of outstanding natural beauty in Somerset. Others overlook Bridgewater’s Durleigh Reservoir, where you can see the boats during the summer. We must have the best views of all of the nursing homes in North Somerset!

The secure gardens are also very special, with lots of seating areas and raised planters, so those in wheelchairs and with greater nursing needs can enjoy them. Many of the downstairs bedrooms have secure patio doors leading to the gardens.

What about dementia care?

We have a newer wing of the home called ‘snowdrop’ for our residents living with dementia, who also require nursing support. This specialist suite enables us to create the best caring environment for a variety of needs. The suite has spacious bedrooms, all of which have walk-in wet room showers and views over the Durleigh reservoir. Our heated summer house is used for loved ones to visit our residents living with dementia.

What is the activities programme like?

This year has been like no other, with so many community events postponed due to the pandemic. This has left our team and those at and other nursing homes in North Somerset having to get creative when it comes to organising fulfilling activities.

The Bridgwater Carnival, which our residents' love, didn’t happen so we organised our own! With tin can alley, candy floss and stalls galore, they didn’t miss out!

With two activities coordinators - one who spends time with our residents living with dementia, and one for our residents receiving nursing care. This ensures we can meet their wide variety of needs. Whether enjoying a trip down memory lane with reminiscence activities, a spot of pampering therapy in our hairdressing salon, there is something for everyone!

During ‘normal’ times our residents love watching outside entertainment. They also like to visit the local villages of Cannington and Nether Stowey, as well as the dementia café at our church in Bridgwater.

At Christmas, the gardens are transformed into a magical winter wonderland, with over 15,000 individual festive lights! The amazing display is thanks to our maintenance man Andrew Morgan. Nominated for his dedication to our residents, Andrew went up against care staff from Alzheimer’s care homes and nursing homes in North Somerset and the South West. He won the Regional Ancillary Worker Award in the Great British Care Awards 2018.

What are mealtimes like at our Somerset nursing home?

The Sunday roast, with all the trimmings, is a real highlight for our residents! There is a cooked or continental breakfast every day, as well as home-baked cakes.

Adult Day Care service

During ‘normal times’ we also provide pre-bookable day care services to senior people who live in their own homes in Bridgwater. They can have support with personal care like having a bath, a delicious home-cooked meal or simply to take part in activities and socialise.

Price information

It is usual for residents in care homes to contribute to the cost of their own care. Some people have the resources to pay for their care in full, whilst others make means-tested contributions. Our weekly fees are individual to each of our residents and are subject to a pre-admission assessment, which is required to truly understand the level of care and support needed.

Our 2022 weekly care fees for residential care start from £1,159 but may be in the region of up to £1,457*. This depends on your care needs and the type of bedroom that is right for you, from our standard rooms to our premium bedroom options.

*If you require more specialist care such as 1-2-1 support, your weekly fee could be higher.
