Residential Care
Dementia care
Respite care

Castlecroft is a residential property located near Weoley Castle, Birmingham in the West Midlands. We offer a wide range of quality care and support for our residents. These include residential care, dementia care and respite care.

Activities are part of daily life at Castlecroft. They help our residents to feel engaged, happy and fulfilled. Activities coordinator Tina Bennett has been at the home for five years. She was a finalist in last year’s National Care Awards in the Care Home Activities Co-ordinator category.

Tina is passionate about helping her residents remain connected with the wider community. She hosts lots of different groups within the care home. These bring a variety of interesting activities for the residents to enjoy and new people for them to form friendships with. She has even won a ‘We Love Weoley Castle Award’. These are given to ‘local heroes’ by the community. This in recognition of her efforts to help her residents connected to the local community.

There is something for everybody at Castlecroft. Group activities include meeting members of the local church and art groups. We even welcome kittens from Birmingham charity Wellcat, who come in for cuddles. Castlecroft also hosts a group of cardiac rehabilitation patients from the local hospital, who have formed their own line-dancing group. They perform for the residents and then spend some time socialising with them as well. The care home embraces every chance to nurture these connections; ensuring residents know they are a vital part of Weoley Castle.

Bringing the outside in

We have created a picturesque indoor garden. This is a wonderful area where our residents can spend time relaxing. There are plants, flowers and amazing-smelling herbs, as well as garden furniture.

Elsewhere there is a sensory room which has been transformed with soothing lighting, music and tactile furnishings. This allows our residents to relax with our foot spa. We also receive regular visits from a lady who provides hand massages with aromatic oils and creams.

Castlecroft runs a dementia café on the last Thursday of every month. We invite people from the local community to enjoy a tea party with our residents. The café helps welcome and provide support to the local community. This includes people who might be helping to care for a loved one suffering from any type of dementia. It is also a lovely chance for our residential residents to join in and meet fresh faces.

Other popular visitors are toddlers from our local nursery, who come along every week to join in with activities. The benefits of these visits for both our residents and the children are heart-warming to see. Residents have been known to form close bonds with the toddlers. For example, one resident was invited to attend a toddler's 'graduation ceremony' from the nursery. It was such a magical experience and one that both families will always treasure.

Our residents also love their daily visits from our dogs. Bella the Labradoodle and Arlo the Shih Tzu, who is so tiny he sits on our residents’ laps!

Castlecroft also has two permanent volunteers who come to the home most days. Both have learning difficulties and our residents love to spend time with them. Their visits are personally so rewarding for them too and are a wonderful confidence boost. They spend time doing everything from helping our staff to chatting and doing activities with our residents.

Pre-bookable respite care

Castlecroft Residential Care Home also provides short-term residential and dementia respite care. Pre-bookable respite care gives carers the opportunity to book a break away on their own, safe in the knowledge that their loved one is receiving the very best care.

Pricing information

It is usual for residents in care homes to contribute to the cost of their own care. Some people have the resources to pay for their care in full, whilst others make means-tested contributions.

Our 2022 weekly care fees for residential care start from £897, but maybe in the region of 20% more*, dependent on your care needs and the type of bedroom that is right for you, from our standard rooms to our premium bedroom options.

*If you require more specialist care such as 1-2-1 support, your weekly fee could be higher.
