At Briarscroft, our devoted team provides residential care and dementia care. We also provide adult respite care with short stay and long term options, giving caregivers looking after elderly relatives a break from caring. These stays are also ideal for older people who need convalescence, for example, a break following a spell in hospital if you are feeling frail.
Few care homes in Birmingham and the West Midlands have everything we offer. Briarscroft has spacious en-suite bedrooms with walk-in wet rooms, a hairdressing salon, bistro café, cinema room and a Namaste room. We also have a heated outdoor visitors' pod.
At Briarscroft, our residents can enjoy a movie matinee without even leaving Shard End! We have a cinema room with traditional style seating and a popcorn machine. From Breakfast at Tiffany's to Singin' in the Rain, the classic titles often prove to be a highlight for those living with dementia.
For those with sensory impairments or physical disabilities, our Namaste room is a tranquil and therapeutic retreat. With multi-sensory lighting, aromatic oils and relaxing sounds like birdsong, it's a haven of calm.
Our 'Magic Table' supports our residents who live with dementia to engage with interactive light games that encourage gentle movement. We also have a piano for those who enjoy a sing-along.
Our staff also treat residents to pamper sessions with manicures and hand massages. They are also passionate about their musicals, getting the residents involved in everything from Greece to festive productions. We are lucky to have a drama group in Birmingham that kindly donates costumes to us.
Briarscroft’s senior residents can take a step back in time and choose their treats from old fashioned jars in our vintage sweet shop. This is a wonderful reminiscence activity for those who live with Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia or age related memory loss.
Residents can also buy toiletries, birthday cards and arts and crafts without stepping foot outside their care home in Birmingham. Two of the residents run the shop themselves, giving them such a feeling of purposeful engagement.
The care home bistro is the perfect spot for family and friends to visit and enjoy special celebrations without even venturing from Shard End. With hot drinks, biscuits and delicious home-baked cakes readily available, it's an ideal spot to relax.
And if they would like to go into Shard End, there is a community centre, shops, a library and church, plus fantastic transport links.
If you were to ask our residents what makes our home truly stand out, they would say our team. Of course, we provide personal care with the greatest dignity and life-enabling support that helps our residents live life to the full.
Home manager Sherrelle and her long-serving team are also joined by three new well-being assistants, who are looking forward to starting new activities as part of their role.
As well as providing residential care, Briarscroft Residential Care Home also provides short-term residential and dementia respite care from the comfort of our beautiful home. Pre-bookable adult respite breaks allow caregivers to book a carer's break of their own, knowing their loved one is in safe hands. It is also a fantastic way for people to consider long-term options to experience that transition from home to care.

It is usual for residents in care homes to contribute to the cost of their own care. Some people have the resources to pay for this in full, whilst others make means-tested contributions.
Our 2022 weekly care fees for residential care start from £877, but maybe in the region of 20% more*, dependent on your care needs and the type of bedroom that is right for you, from our standard rooms to our premium bedroom options.
*If you require more specialist care such as 1-2-1 support, your weekly fee could be higher.
Based on an independent survey completed by our resident's friends and family.
