The lifestyle that the team creates for their residents and the devotion to their wellbeing makes our Meadow View care home special.
Providing residential care, dementia, and adult respite breaks, this isn't just a beautiful home with superb support services; it's a place where residents thrive.
With en-suite bedrooms with walk-in wet rooms, stunning gardens with water features, home-cooked cuisine, a hair and beauty salon and a sun terrace, Meadow View has it all.
The exquisite gardens
The gardens are a huge focal point for social interaction and activities. Recently residents have created hanging baskets and have been planting cucumbers, peas and aubergines.
With raised beds and wheelchair friendly pathways, people with greater physical disabilities can get so much pleasure from the gardens. With sensory planting, herb garden and water features, there is so much for our older residents with sensory impairments to enjoy.
Our residents often enjoy afternoon tea and home-baked cakes outside. With the choice of sitting under our pretty wooden roofed arbours, on the large patio, or even the sun terrace, there is so much space to enjoy the fresh air and plenty of seating for visiting family and friends.
What are the bedrooms like at Meadow View?
Our bedrooms, which overlook the gardens, are all spacious and beautifully decorated. All the ground floor rooms have French doors opening onto the patio. As well as telephone points, many of the bedrooms also have flat-screen televisions.
What can my loved one enjoy doing?
There is so much to do in our Hersden home, with a pool table, table tennis and football table for those who enjoy sports, to a cinema room and bar area.
The sun terrace is a lovely spot for residents to relax, with raised beds and hanging baskets.
There is a hairdressing salon, with a mobile hairdresser visiting weekly. We also hold regular pamper sessions here, with manicures and hand massages.
We have a 'Magic Table', an innovative piece of technology which projects interactive light games onto a surface. The device encourages gentle movement, which is beneficial for elderly and older people living with Alzheimer's Disease, other forms of dementia, mild cognitive impairment (MCI), and age-related memory loss.
Every month we hold a special themed celebration. Recently we celebrated the culture and traditions of Portugal, where our chef created some traditional cuisine for everyone to sample.
What is the food like in our care home?
Mealtimes are a huge highlight, not only for the delicious home-cooking but also for social interaction. Head Chef Jack cooks everything from scratch, from traditional roast dinners with all the trimmings to the home-baked cakes and biscuits; the menu selections are always popular!
Engaging with our Canterbury community
Our residential care home is a big part of the local community, of course following the latest Covid guidance. Our residents especially love visits from the children at schools in Hersden. The children also enjoy spending time with our seniors, visiting for lunch, arts and singing sessions. These are fantastic for reminiscence for our residents living with Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia and memory loss.
Our local Hersden community minibus provides accessible transport that is ideal for trips to the seaside at Herne Bay and garden centres, cafés and shops across Canterbury and Kent.
Providing carer support with adult respite care breaks
We know now more than ever that caregivers looking after elderly relatives in our community and across Kent need a rest, so we offer short breaks and longer-term respite care options.
So, whether you are in your senior years caring for a husband or wife looking after an elderly parent or feeling frail and need convalescence or additional support following a spell in hospital, Meadow View's exceptional team are here.
We offer planned respite that can be pre-booked in advance, as well as emergency respite services. Our short breaks are also perfect for those exploring the option of transitioning into care in the South East.
Our CQC Good home
Our Care Quality Commission Report (CQC) report rated Meadow View 'Good' in every area. Inspectors described the residential home as 'well-led' with a team devoted to treating residents with the utmost dignity and respect, delivering "high quality, person-centred care".
It is usual for residents in care homes to contribute to the cost of their care. Some people have the resources to pay for this in full, whilst others make means-tested contributions.
Our weekly fees are individual to each of our residents and are subject to a pre-admission assessment, which is required to truly understand the level of care and support needed.
Our 2022 weekly care fees for residential care start from £1,080 but maybe in the region of 20% more*. This depends on your care needs and the type of bedroom that is right for you, from our standard rooms to our premium bedroom options.
*If you require more specialist care such as 1-2-1 support, your weekly fee could be higher.
